All clothes are pre-shrunk and can be machine washed and dried. We recommend washing in cold water with like-colors and medium dry.
Many of our customers comment on the durability of these clothes, as well as how they retain their bright colors. Also, many customers are happy to find that their back from bali purchases get handed down to other siblings and friends since they last so long.
HOW THE CLOTHES ARE MADE
All the fabrics and clothing are made by a Balinese woman who has a small family run business located in the southern part of the island of Bali. We have been creating these wonderful clothes together since 1992. The owner, members of her family, and other employees do all the work from the family home.
Each season Back from Bali draws the patterns we want to use for the clothes. These drawings are made into a mold which is used to stamp the fabric with wax. The fabric is then dipped into dye, and where the wax is, the dye cannot penetrate. Afterwards, it’s boiled to get the wax off and to show the design on the fabric. That is why all the clothes are pre-shrunk, because with batik you have to wash the fabric many times to get the designs.
IMPERFECTIONS IN BATIK ARE NORMAL:
These clothes are all hand done, and because of that it is normal to find dye imperfections. This only adds to the uniqueness of the garment. You may also find small specks of green wax on the garment. This is the wax that is used for the batiking and will wash out.
