I began Back From Bali in 1992 after traveling to Indonesia and falling in love with the country and the beautiful batik handicrafts that they do. After seeing the unique and colorful children’s clothing there, I decided to start my own business so that I can share these amazing clothes with you! Even after all these years, I still get so excited from seeing these special clothes. And most of all, I get alot of happiness from seeing the joy and pleasure on your faces when you buy these clothes. That is really the reason I do this business: to share these happy clothes with you and for you and your children to get joy from seeing and wearing them.

HOW THE CLOTHES ARE MADE

All the fabrics and clothing are made by a Balinese woman who has a small family run business located in the southern part of the island of Bali. We have been creating these wonderful clothes together since 1992. The owner, members of her family, and other employees do all the work from the family home.

Each season Back from Bali draws the patterns we want to use for the clothes. These drawings are made into a mold which is used to stamp the fabric with wax. The fabric is then dipped into dye, and where the wax is, the dye cannot penetrate. Afterwards, it’s boiled to get the wax off and to show the design on the fabric. That is why all the clothes are pre-shrunk, because with batik you have to wash the fabric many times to get the designs.

IMPERFECTIONS IN BATIK ARE NORMAL: These clothes are all hand done, and because of that it is normal to find dye imperfections. This only adds to the uniqueness of the garment. You may also find small specks of green wax on the garment. This is the wax that is used for the batiking and will wash out.

WASHING INSTRUCTIONS: For the first time wash separately in cold water and hang dry. Later, wash with like colors and cool dry.

RETURN POLICY: Even though I would hope that if you weren't happy with an item, you would exchange it for something else, I will do returns. I understand the possible difficulties you may feel in ordering online and not touching the item. I do not do returns at my markets, but will do them here online so that you are completely satisfied and can take a risk when ordering.
