Will the clothes shrink a lot?
No. The reason is that with batik you have
to boil off the wax. The fabric is boiled many times which is why it is all
pre-shrunk.

Does the cotton get soft?
It gets very soft. We use only the finest quality of 100% cotton for all our garments. The first time you touch a garment it may be just slightly stiff. This is because of the batik process and the use of wax. But after the first washing it gets very soft.

Sometimes I‚ve seen tiny bits of wax on the garment?
All Back from Bali clothes are made by hand using a batik process. With batik, the artist uses
wax to make the patterns. Some residue wax may remain on the fabric, but this all washes out with the first washing. And it only proves that what
you have purchased is a craft.

Are imperfections in the print normal or is it a reject?
These clothes are all hand made, and because of that it is normal to find dye imperfections. This only adds to the uniqueness of the garment. These clothes are not
factory made and yet are highly durable.

Will it fall apart in the wash?
No. Many customers comment on the
durability of these clothes and how they have happily handed them down to other brothers, sisters, cousins and friends.

Can I wash it easily or will the dye ruin other clothing?
These clothes are easy to care for and they don‚t need any special treatment. Just wash with
like colors in cold or warm water and machine dry.

Yes, it is very safe for infants, but we
recommend washing your purchase first before wearing.

Are the clothes very delicate, I'm afraid my children will ruin them?
These are sturdy clothes for kids to play in. Back From Bali specializes in clothes for children to be children in. We only use 100% cotton.

Were the clothes made in a factory?
No. All the clothes are made by a
Balinese women who runs a family business . She employs about 7 sewers in her home, and also farms out sewing to individual people on an as needed
bases.

What are the working conditions of the people who sew the clothes?
They work in the home of the women who owns the business. The living area of Balinese
homes are often just covered by a roof and so the sewers work in this open area as Bali is a very hot country. All food for the day is cooked by one
of the workers and they share meals together.

How do I know what size to order?
There is a size chart on the web site which gives you the weight and height of a child to go by. But when we are selling in person, we always recommend going one size higher than the age of the child. For example, if a baby is 6 months old, buy a 12month size; If a
child is 4 years old, buy the 6 year size, ect. You could also email me with your specific size concerns and I will be happy to help you.

Yes, if this is given as a gift, the receiver can exchange the item for anything else they like. And if they want to return it, your account will be credited.

What is batik, is it like tye dye?
It is totally different than tye dye which bleeds. Batik is made using a wax and dye process. The fabric is
stamped with wax in the shape of the pattern and where the wax is the dye cannot penetrate. Later the wax is boiled off and you then see the design.
That is why it is pre-shrunk, because to get the wax off the fabric has to be boiled many times. Batik is a craft which has been perfected in Bali. All the fabric has been made by hand.
